Long was born and raised in Memphis, TN where his parents still live. He’s the middle of three boys in his family. During middle and high school years, Long began to play ice hockey and fell in love with the sport. After high school, he began coaching, and only stopped when the Long family moved to Roanoke. He attended the University of Memphis from 2001 to 2005 and is a huge Tiger fan. He met his wife, Jeni at the University of Memphis where she was also a student. They were married June 24, 2006. Before leaving Memphis for Roanoke, the Longs lived in a 600 square ft. studio apartment in the heart of downtown Memphis.
Since moving to Roanoke, he has gotten used to living in a smaller town and love the surrounding mountains and the entertainment they offer. He has also started playing ice hockey again. Long really likes the Roanoke/Salem area and hopes to stay here for a while. Since the season ended in the beginning of September, Long and his wife, Jeni, have adopted an eight month old lab mix named is Harrison. |
